In addition to following normal manuscript citation conventions, include these elements when citing records found "electronically" through The Adult Education History Project: Main entry, Title, Item number, and, if a specific image is being cited, Component number. Mention, too, that the record was found in "http://www-distance.syr.edu/history.html, an Electronic Source for Syracuse University Library's database for archives and manuscripts".

{7:49:274:I:333,915:1998,1485} UNIVERSITY COUNCIL ON EDUCATION FOR PUBLIC RESPONSIBILITY PAPERS, 1961-1964  1 box (.5 linear ft.)  Background Sketch  The University Council on Education for Public Responsibility (UCEPR) was founded in 1962 by administrators of ten universities to facilitate inter-university cooperation in the education for public responsibility and more responsible citizenship. The Council began as an experimental division of the Center for the Study of Liberal Education for Adults (CSLEA) and has retained its semi-independent status, so that direction comes from the member institutions and not from the pa- rent organization. Funds are contributed by the Fund for Adult Education and by participating universities.  Regular members include the presidents of cooperating schools (the number of universities has varied from eight to twelve), and the deans and directors are associate members. There are two standing committees, the Executive Committee of Presidents and the Program Planning Committee. Services provided by the UCEPR include multi-media materials available to the public: for example, filmstrips, books, and programs for educational television.

{7:49:275:I:396,375:1938,1710} Description  The papers of the UCEPR are arranged in three groups: correspondence, organization records, and projects for public responsibility. The inclusive dates of these papers are 1961-1964, although the bulk of the material is dated 1962-1963.  Correspondence, including incoming and outgoing letters, is arranged chronologically down to the day. Where possible, incoming letters have been attached to the front of outgoing letters. Most of the correspondence refers to meetings of the Program Planning Committee and projects of the UCEPR.   Organization records include copies of the bylaws of the organization, financial reports, lists of officers, minutes of planning meetings as well as holograph notes taken by A.A. Liveright at some of these meetings, and two proposals and a statement of organization purpose. These materials are arranged alphabetically by type.  Material relating to a particular UCEPR program on urbanism and to member universities' programs of education for public responsibility is found within Projects for Public Responsibility.  This category includes descriptive material and reviews of projects and publications, as well as sample manuals and suggestions for public activity.  Gift of the Association of University Evening Colleges, 1971
