1925-
PAPERS, 1944-1977
3 Boxes, (1.25 linear ft.)
Description
The collection is composed primarily of
papers (surveys and
reports) and
publications (including a number of abstracts and
bibliographies)
that Ingham collected, the bulk dated 1961-72.
Most of the
material reflects Ingham's interest in university
adult
education. (He taught at the University
of Chicago while
he earned his
Ph.D., was Program Advisor at University College,
Syracuse
University, and was associate professor at Florida State
University.) A large portion deals with research and
theory into
the nature of
adult learning, both in general, and in higher
education
settings.
There are five divisions:
Professional Work
University Adult Education
General Theory and Research
Organizations
Miscellaneous

A large number of pamphlets have been
removed to the adult
education pamphlet
collection. Other pamphlets were
duplicates
of material
found in the general collection of E.S. Bird Library
(listed at the
end of the shelf list), or in the following Arents
Library research
collections: Center for the Study of Liberal
Education for
Adults (CSLEA); Charters, Alexander; and ERIC
Clearinghouse on
Adult Education.
